2022 Winter Sleeping Bag Appeal

Please Donate to National Homeless Collective (giveeasy.org)

Nobody chooses this. Homelessness is never an easy way to live. Homelessness is chaotic, lonely, cruel and cold.

This week alone we sent out 40 sleeping bags to help young people experiencing homelessness, 30 more sleeping bags to children sleeping in cars, 24 sleeping bags to assist children to go to school camp, 35 sleeping bags to people sleeping rough, and 70 sleeping bags to our partner organisations to reach even more people who call the streets home.

We have no sleeping bags left. Not one. Our 2021 allotment has been exhausted. We have never been to a point where we have completely run out. Sadly, that’s now our reality.

Now is the time to ask you to help us. We need at least 2000 sleeping bags to fill the current requests we have, and more to help flood victims if we can. Ideally we need 2500 sleeping bags.

You can help us by donating now so we can buy a life saving sleeping bag on your behalf, or by purchasing a sleeping bag and sending it to our warehouse so we can pass it on to someone in desperate need.

It’s getting cold and we need to get these bags out as soon as possible.

If you would like to donate a new sleeping bag to someone in need you can send one to us at

National Homeless Collective
6/55 Parer Road
Airport West
VIC 3042

Or drop it off between 10am and 12pm Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To keep people as comfortable as possible sleeping bags need to be rated minus -10°, full adult size and preferably with a hood however this isn’t essential. Melbourne and many other areas we deliver bags to get down to freezing conditions some nights. Although we can’t give people a home, we can try to keep them alive while they wait for one.

We apologise in advance however unfortunately we cannot accept second hand sleeping bags at this time.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation so we can buy a sleeping bag on your behalf please click the link in the comments.

If the only thing you can do to help a

nother person this year is to donate a sleeping bag, then you’re effectively donating them life. Without these bags people die. It’s as real and as horrible as that.

If you’re unable to donate a bag please consider sharing this post. Covid has bee

n rou

gh on so many people and we honestly need all the support we can get.

We need you to help us save lives again this year. We simply can’t do this without you.
