Underwear is a basic human right. It is the most used and replaced item of privilege that sits in our wardrobe. You probably didn’t realise that having underwear was a privilege until you read this… But it is. And considering we have to wear it, why not support companies who look after people when we buy it? Underwear for Humanity makes underwear from recycled materials which helps save the planet. They also donate a portion of their sales to us with each purchase. Do you know what that donation per purchase does? It employs women. Women experiencing homelessness, women released […]

National Homeless Collective was honoured to once again support the children attending the DAIWS Christmas party in Darwin. This year we were able to provide gifts for 118 children who attended the party. It was an incredible feeling seeing each of the children receive their gifts from Santa. NHC School Project has a strong focus on giving children the opportunity to create fond memories to reflect on later in life. We certainly achieved this! It was also an honour to catch up with our board member Amy Rust and Kate Worden MLA: Member for Sanderson. We chatted about the needs […]

Today I had the privilege of speaking to 400+ year 8, 9 and 10 students about the work I do with the charity. I also spoke about what it’s like to be an Indigenous person in today’s world and how the stolen generation still has a huge ripple effect on people today. Our First Nations people were wonderful story tellers and passed down 65,000 years of traditions, culture, history and lore around campfires, on long treks and on river banks to make sure new generations learned the ways of the land and the stories of the Dreamtime. 65,000 years, and […]

We are so incredibly proud to lend our support to Aboriginal women and children in the Northern Territory. As a First Nations woman myself it is an honour to acknowledge our elders and those who come before us who continue teaching our ways and traditions. We have supported a Women and children’s refuge in the NT for a number of years now and this space is cared for by many Larrakia women. Each year the women come together to celebrate and we are honoured to provide these gifts for their annual get together. Sadly due to covid I won’t be […]

Thanks to your incredibly generous donations we were able to support the Yuendumu school in the Northern Territory with dozens of items for their Senior School Fellas program. This program teaches health and hygiene essentials to the fellas and is an important part of the school program. Being so far away, the Yuendumu school wasn’t previously able to access the items they needed to successfully run the program and it was at risk of being cancelled. However, thanks to your support we were able to help the school out with more than enough items to set them up and the […]

Our super team of socially distanced, masked up volunteers, Dayle, Jo and Kate spent their Saturday boxing up the last of the items heading north to the Yuendumu community in the Northern Territory. A huge thank you to these three absolute super stars for giving up their time. We appreciate you all so much. Unfortunately as the coronavirus spreads and becomes harder to contain in our lovely city we have had to make the very difficult decision to stop all packing days until further notice. We need to keep everyone safe and we feel that packing days pose and unnecessary […]

We need to talk. Something has been on my mind and I haven’t said anything yet, but as the founder of this charity, it’s time for me to speak. What’s been on my mind is the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, the protests and the anti protests. As an Aboriginal woman I have suffered discrimination and seen my Mother, family and loved ones be reduced and treated as nothing but lesser inferior humans, animals even, because of the colour of their skin. This has affected me my entire life in ways that would take me months to write and you weeks […]

Once again what an incredible day! We don’t have a final tally but we managed to gather four large boxes of items for the Yuendumu senior fellas health and hygiene programe and raised over $2000 to purchase more of what they need. These items will be shipped up to the Northern Territory by our good friends at StarTrack. A huge thank you to our volunteers MelAnnetteSineaidJoCaitlinPierretteAngelaNevenaKylie FarrugiaBonitaKaiMimma For helping out today and making it such an incredible success. We can’t do this without your support 🙏
