Christine: (Mentions domestic abuse, police, family violence, murder, escape, police.) We haven’t spoken of Christine for a while but we have an update for those of you who have been following her story. Firstly, she is safe. After being removed from her home with the assistance of detectives from the family violence unit Christine was given a medical check up and taken to a safe secure location. She was relieved to have been ‘saved’, for want of a better term. Christine told me she honestly couldn’t see any way out and believed her only escape would be through death, when […]
We need help. As many of you know we’ve been assisting Lauren, a Mum who has had to leave suddenly because her ex husband who has threatened numerous times to murder her was found inside her house and the next day found in her street. Lauren has been moved to a safe secure unit but the promised security cameras never happened. She can’t sleep at night and we want to help her. We know security cameras won’t be a complete barrier to protect her but they may buy her time and be a deterrent for her ex husband should he […]

💜Update on Lauren💜 Incredible generous people doing incredible things! Yesterday Pierrette dropped on with a brand new vacuum cleaner, mob bucket and broom for Lauren plus some extra pillows. What a gorgeous person. Thank you so very much, Pierrette. We appreciate you so much. I really don’t want to get names mixed up so I apologise for not adding other names to the donations. A toaster, iron, dinner set, cutlery set and some glass wear has been donated by one incredible lady. We have also had donated new hand towels and face washers. A pantry starter with all the necessary […]

Periods don’t stop in a crisis. The first 1000 Period Packs have been delivered to Foodbank Victoria. Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and volunteered to help us make this happen. The packs went straight on a pallet to go out to relief centres. They simply don’t have enough donations of sanitary items. The next 1000 packs are currently being put together and we can see now that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what is needed. The most effective, efficient and practical way to donate is financially. If you’re wondering where your donation […]

The true heart of our Fire fighters. Even with all of the bushfires raging around our country, our firies are still thinking about how they can help others. This is Rach from Patterson River Fire Brigade who together with her team has collected hundreds of much needed toiletries and other items for people we support. We’re blown away by this incredibly thoughtful gesture, especially at a time when our country is literally burning to the ground. Please join us in thanking Rachel and everyone from the Patterson River brigade who helped make this happen. You really are true heroes.
Did you know that 40% of incarcerated women in Victoria are there on remand? This means they have not yet been convicted of any crime or sentenced. They’re held in prison until their court date where many are released immediately, though often with no housing and no support to turn to and often after months of incarceration. Yesterday we went to visit the Melbournes women’s prison, Dame Phyllis Frost Centre (DPFC) and spoke to a dedicated team who specifically look after women being released. Many of these women are released on to the street, with little or no money and […]
Susan Scollen from the Canberra Period Project met with Giulia Jones MLA to discuss the homelessness, the requirement for a range of models to meet needs and the depth of the issues were currently experiencing in Canberra and the surrounding region. Susan has been liaising with agencies in the region to discuss the current issues and it was great to spend time with Giulia, who’s Shadow Minister for Women, Corrections, and Police & Emergency Services. We agreed that there are incredible people who are working tirelessly to provide services to the people that need it. People will always require these […]
