Hygiene Poverty Is Real

We’re a charity supporting all people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse and disadvantage. And we support people in almost all areas of life.

Included in that support is personal hygiene items.

It is absolutely crucial that every person experiencing homelessness or disadvantage has access to personal hygiene items. During the pandemic lockdown we twice ran out of absolutely everything, but we managed to re stock, well, almost.

We still struggle to get toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant. Perhaps when we think of personal hygiene we automatically go straight to soap, or shampoo. Our minds think ‘clean’ and it’s soap with all its lather and bubbles that appears in our minds eye.

It looks like we will soon be able to open our op shop again to take donations, so if you’re thinking about making a donation (and bless you if you are! 🙏) we would absolutely love for you to think about donating toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant. We need all kinds for all ages and all genders. Toothbrushes do need to be individually wrapped though.

We’ve decided to add a fundraiser to this so that if you’d like to donate but you’re too far away, or in the event that restrictions aren’t eased yet we can buy them on your behalf.

We shop pretty thrifty (thriftfully? Thriftish?) and we can get a toothbrush, toothpaste and a small roll on deodorant for around $5 for the lot! So, if you have $5 to spare we could really use it and would appreciate your generosity to help us help others in need.

And, all donations over $5 are fully tax deductible!

Thank you all so so very much for your continued support. It means the absolute world ❤️
